Post Modernist

Post-Modernist, a noun not very well defined, and thus is used in a pretty broad sense. Those who are raised up in the 80s are called Generation-X; and those in the 90s, Generation-Y. And I would like to think of those born after 70, as the Post-Modernist generation.

In the old days, say 50s/60s, the world was struggling toward modernization. People valued materialism - which served to be the value of life, in various senses.

The Post-Modernist is a generation that values relationship. High wages and supreme social positions can no longer give us complete satisfaction. We look for quality relationships - we consciously look for in-depth friendship, and dislike shallow ones. We care much about our souls, as well as those of others' - if we could manage.

Desperately, we seek for the meaning of life, and the ultimate goal of our deeds. We search for the true hearts, and demand that in relationships. We feel betrayed, and are pained when this expectation is not met. We look for workshops, books and ads that claim to "alter the course of lives".

What are we up to? After all, we cannot give the answer. For most of us, we may know it, but we don't really feel it.

What is our goal? What are we actually looking for? What are we trying to reach? Having searched for decades, we can give a bunch of answers. But the true one, seems as vague as the meaning of the noun, Post-Modernist.
